No Theme Whatsoever

Ah, yes.

We've nothing to talk about, but I did find that lovely motivational poster. I thought some readers may enjoy it. =3 I know that Mom would've loved to do that to us one day.

I've joined a mock trial club at school. So far, it looks fun. We'll have our first official meeting next Thursday, because this Thursday, we'll be eating turkey. Nomnomnom!

Also, my hiccup tic has evolved into a bicycle horn-like noise. Waffle maker is my new favorite word, too. x3

Farewell for now,

Allison

OH NOEZ! ... Not really.

Men in green suits stalked about seminary grounds, FBI agents mingled with Syracuse police, and worried parents fled to pick up their children. Remember seeing this on the news?

Yeah, Syracuse Junior High made national news. The so-called anthrax scare happened yesterday, at the tail end of second period, so it was around 9:45. Dr. Bowden got on the intercom and announced that we were in a semi-lockdown situation; nobody was allowed to leave class, but we could still continue on as normal, minus changing classes. She reported that a "suspicious package" arrived at the seminary, and the first priority was to get everybody in there out. Dr. Bowden assured us that we were all safe, and so were the seminary students. A bit later, she came on and said we could continue classes normally, except no going out the south doors. Seminary students were told to meet in the commons, and life went on.

Life went on with haz-mat teams outside, FBI agents, news copters, interviewers shoving microphones everywhere, the police worrying, a decontamination shower in the south parking lot, and teachers guarding doors.

Mrs. Champi, my English teacher, tryed to prove a point to her third period class. She was trying to show how easy it was to instill panic. "Don't worry, I bet it's all fine outside," she said as she walked towards the window. Mrs. Champi peeked out the blinds, and exclaimed, "There are men in black suits out there!" A good portion of the class yowled in surprise, and the rest broke into panic. "No, no, I'm just kidding," Champi laughed. She even told all of this to my period's class... Goodness.

The panic lesson has some relevence. I bet you were worried for the students when you heard CNN, or whoever, make such a big deal about this! A news article mislead readers by saying an evacuation took place; only the seminary was evacuated. Doctor Bowden said that everything is just fine, and students were absolutely safe. However, the media blew this up to gigantic proportions, getting rumors from the student body such as it was anthrax, there was a mysterious ticking noise from the package, anthrax had already been released into the air, it was just white powder... Somebody heard a group that day whispering among themselves, "Yeah, let's spread that rumor! It'd be hilarious, hahaha."

Here's some clarification:

-The package was a manilla envolope, and inside was a rambling letter.
-There was no white powder, anthrax, or anything else.
-It did not tick.
-Nobody but highly trained proffesionals handeled it.
-The seminary was merely told to leave.
-Nobody was in harm's way.

... Yeah, that's what this post is about!

In other, un-related news, It's A Wonderful Life is going well. We'll be preforming the first week of December, and yell at mom or I for tickets. Also, boys are a hot topic of conversation. According to some girls, it's a make-out week at school.

YUCK.

TTFN,

Allison

What do you do all day?

My wonderful mother sent this to me today and I just had to share it with everyone.

What Do You Do All Day?
A man came home from work and found his three children outside, still in their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn all around the front yard.
The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door to the house and there was no sign of the dog. Proceeding into the entry, he found an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, and the throw rug was wadded against one wall.
In the front room the TV was loudly blaring a Cartoon channel, and the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing.
In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on the counter, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled on the floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door.
He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she might be ill, or that something serious had happened.
He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way out the bathroom door. As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap and more toys strewn over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap and toothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls.
As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in the bed in her pajamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled, and asked how his day went.
He looked at her bewildered and asked, 'What happened here today?'
She again smiled and answered, 'You know every day when you come home from work and you ask me what in the world do I do all day?'
'Yes,' was his incredulous reply.
She answered, 'Well, today I didn't do it.'

It's a Wonderful Life!

I am so excited! Allison will be making her stage debut in Syracuse Junior High's production of It's a Wonderful Life this December 5th, 6th, and 8th. Much to Allison's dismay it isn't a speaking part, but I'm certain (as are others) that she will get a speaking part at some point in the future. She is my little Drama Queen after all. We have tickets, $3 for students/children and $4 for adults if anyone is interested. I'll be sure to take some pics and maybe even some video for those of you that might miss the show and post them here.

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!

Evening friends,

The little ones are jumping all over because we're about to watch Wizards of Oz. Well, they're either jumping around over that or the air pop popcorn. I'm pretty sure it's the later.

Tonight at dinner at Koren's house, there were cries of "More pictures! More pictures!" I haven't uploaded many pictures, and since we have no scanner, *glares at Mom*, I can't scan anything I drew. Also, can't find the correct slot for my SD card! x.x

Plus, I haven't been very keen on taking snapshots lately. The sprites above and right were re-colored from their original versions; I suck at creating base sprites. Re-colored and, sometimes, fused with other sprites. The picture to the left is a drawing I did a while ago of the pink dragon-thing, except its regular version. http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n55/Geeky_Geek/AllisonLogo-1.jpg is a desktop wallpaper I tried doing about the tail end of our stay at Grandma's house.

As you can see, I've been dipping into spriting and drawing recently. I'm not going to take it as a career; it's just some stuff I've seen inspired me. If you go to www.deviantart.com and search, for example, "Elf" you'll be swamped in tons of beautiful artwork! It amazes me how people can draw this well.

Ahhh... We need to hook up our scanner.

Farewell for now,

Allison

Guess What?

It's Friday!

Happy Friday~

~~~~~~
I finished Soul Music by Terry Pratchett a while ago, and good LORD! It's one of the funniest books I've read yet. Here's the back cover:
"When her dear old Granddad--the Grim Reaper himself--goes missing, Susan takes over the family business. The progency of Death's adopted duaghter and his apprentice, she shows real talent for the trade. That is until a little string in her heart goes "twang".
With a head full of dreams and a pocketful of lint, Imp the Bard lands in Ankh'Morpork, yearning to become a rock star. Determined to devote his life to music, the unlucky fellow soon finds that all his dreams are coming true. Well almost."
... Heh, Terry Pratchett is my inspiration for writing. He's a British author that made his name with the Discworld series, starting with one of my favorites, The Color of Magic. Pratchett is a master of satire, I swear; in Soul Music, the main theme is Music With Rocks In. Rock and roll in a contemporary fantasy setting cracks me up. The wizards want to rebel, rebel against everything, even gravity! The rock and roll music makes you want to paint your room black, buy a guitar, and paste sequins all over your jacket.
You can see how Pratchett's writing influences me.
Anyway, in news you may care about, I tripped up the stairs on my bus today and my ankle /hurts/. X.x
I've realized my purpose on the blog. I'm comic relief, while mom tries to be funny, fails, but gets what's been happening lately across. (( I still love you mom. =3 ))
Farewell for now,
Allison
P.S. I seriously need a life.
Catch up - Anything that's not the kids & the new house
Besides house hunting, moving and settling into a new home, we have spent our time going to Grizzlies games (Hockey for those of you not into the sports scene), Bees (Baseball), and Salt Lake Real (Soccer), and The Blaze (indoor Football). Much to the girls dismay we informed them we could not go to each and every game, although baseball was not among the list of favorites. Surprisingly enough we all seemed to enjoy hockey the most.
While we were unable to afford tickets to all of the Grizzlies, Blaze and Real games that the girls wanted (well except for Allison, she's a home body), we did splurge this summer and bought season passes to Lagoon. Can I say that I am glad that Lagoon has closed for the season? Hahaha. We did have a good time going to Lagoon this year together. It was nice to know that we didn't have to stay alllll day long because we had just spend $35 x 5 for a one day pass and that we could come back anytime we wanted. Lindsay was even brave enough to try the Colossus for the first time. She has yet to try it a second time because she's afraid of hurting her neck again, like she did the first time. Apparently we need to work on building stronger neck muscles. Her favorite ride so far is the White Roller Coaster (yuck, my least favorite). Katie really enjoyed the kid swings and of couse....the merry go round. Allison didn't seem to ever really have a favorite, she was just along for the ride.
Allison and I have been going to plays at the Hale Theater every other month or so with my parent's and Koren and Dan. We have both enjoyed the plays very much. So much so for Allison that she has found a love of all things theater and would love to get on stage. Considering her label from a very early age of a "Drama Queen", she seems to have a talent for it, what few chances she's had to perform so far (ie. elementary school producctions). She has her big debut in "It's a Wonderful Life" in December. Well maybe it's not a big debut, as she is a towns person, without a speaking part, but based on the response she received from the try outs, she only needs to obtain her 8th grade status and she may be looking at speaking parts.
Todd has been settling into his fairly new job rather well(he's been there just over 2 years now, still seems new to us). He enjoys having the freedoms he has there, such as not being chastized for being late when traffic is bad, leaving early if he needs to, rewarded when he works hard and having every day off known to man. He has been busy recently creating the training manuals and guidelines that the company had yet to bother to create.
As for me, not too terribly much is going on other than being a wife, mother, getting ready for the Holidays and looking forward to meeting my new niece in a month and a half.
One, A-Two, A-OneTwoThreeFour--!
HELLO INTERTUBES!
ARE YOU READY TO RAAWWWK?
Now that that is out of my system...
Welcome, welcome, welcome, to this humble blog headed by mom and I. She's crazy about the house, as you can see from the previous posts. I'm here to make this fun; we all know mom's don't do anything fun, amirite?
This is just that useless intro post for me.
Mom wants me to fill in the blanks?
Eh, her fault for trusting me.
Yes, I'm in 7th grade, and I have Tourette's Syndrome. It's not as bad as you may think; you get plenty of elbow room, English teacher loves you for blurting out random words, you can curse freely at your parents... Ah, what a wonderful life. However, I do not have coprolalia, or the utterance of taboo or socially unacceptable words. The tics, or spasms, or convulsions, or whatever you want to call them, come in all colors of the rainbow. Swearing, jolting, screaming, singing--Tourette's Syndrome is mainly a label applied to many of those with tics. There are two types: vocal tics, and motor tics. Vocal tics I have include yelling random words, humming the Mario theme song, and spastic shouts. Motor tic-wise, it's mainly hitting with my right arm. Dad's got a bruise to show it, haha.
Lindsay and Katie are bundles of pure sugar, and that's that. Oo
Catch up - The Girls
Let's see...
Allison started junior high this year, yes junior high! She just had her 13th birthday on the 2nd of November. I am now officially a mother of a teenager!! Miraculously she made the transition from elementary to junior high without any problems, which is truly a blessing considering the challenge of entering junior high with Tourette Syndrome. She was extremely nervous her first week of school but once the kids were informed of what Tourette Syndrome was they have treated her like any other kid. She is in an advanced program that if she is successful in through high school, she will earn a separate diploma for upon graduation. So far she has handled the challenge of advance courses rather well. I have allowed her to be an author on this blog, so I'll let her fill the parts that I've left out (at least I hope she'll fill in the blanks).
Lindsay is now 8 and in 3rd grade. She's my girlie girl turning tom boy as she seems to be enjoying sports more and more. The last two years we have enrolled her in AYSO soccer, which she thoroughly enjoys and seems to have a bit of talent in or at least potential for. Her favorite position is either mid field or offense (I forget what the name of that positon is, bad me) She has recently asked if she can play softball in the spring as well. Anytime Todd has been able to get his hand on any kind of sporting event tickets, Lindsay is the first one to say she wants to go, which makes daddy very happy of course. Lindsay enjoys school, although I think it is because she likes being social. Recently Lindsay has taken up the hobby of drawing and writing stories. I think she gets that from her big sister and her dad. If you ask Lindsay what she wants to be when she grows up she'll tell you an Artist or a teacher or a coach. LOL who would have guessed huh?
Katelynn, or Katie, (depending on the day), is now 5 and is in Kindergarten. She is her sisters shadow. While she knows how to play independently she loves her sisters to death and wants to spend all her time with them whenever they are around. Katie too was enrolled in soccer this season for the first time and loves it. Oddly enough she seems to have already determined that she likes playing defender. Her favorite thing to do when the other team touches the ball is run down to their goal (which is shorter than she is tall and about as wide as her arm span) and throw open her arms and spread her legs to block their shots. Now keep in mind, her age group doesn't have keepers and they only have 3 players per team on the field at a time, so at times her insistence at defending the goal can cause a player shortage for getting the ball back. And apparently Katie is going to follow in Lindsay's footsteps and enjoy sports as well, which again makes Todd a very happy daddy. Her other favorite outdoor activity is running. She will run anywhere anytime, much to Grandma's dismay at times. Katie seems to really enjoy Kindergarten, meeting new friends and learning how to read and write. We've already mastered the words "see" and "my", which she is quite proud of.
Catch Up - Our new home
I thought I would take a few minutes and catch everyone up on our lives this last little bit. I believe everyone is aware of our perilous journey within the Garner basement the last 3 years (yes I said 3 years). We have finally emerged from that dungeon, fairly unscathed and have settled into our new home. I can't even begin to express how grateful I am to my parents for putting up with us for so long and giving us the time we needed to get our finances in order. Of course I have my sentimental moments when I miss having my mom so close and I miss the puppies almost everyday, but I loooove having a home once again, so much so I hate leaving it some days.
I am completely in love with my kitchen. The house had me the second I saw the kitchen. Gone were the grumblings about the fact that it was a bi-level house. And the fact that it has a nice archway between the kitchen/dining area into the family room with a vaulted ceiling makes it really nice when you company, as it doesn't seem too terribly crowded and I can be apart of the fun even while I'm slaving away on dinner. AND it has a walk in pantry!
We have awesome stamped and stained cement both on the driveway and in the back on the patio with a built in fire pit (which is what sealed the deal on the house as far as Todd was concerned).
The house has 4 finished bedrooms, one of them having a master bath (yay!) and an unfinished family room in the basement, that hopefully we will get to this coming summer. We are in a pretty good neighborhood in Syracuse, with nice views of the sunsets and the mountains from our deck.
Needless to say we are looking forward to our future in our new home.
First Venture
Well this is my first venture into this "blogging" thing that I've heard so much about. I don't know if I'll actually keep it up as I'm uncertain whether or not I have the talent that others in my family have proven to have, nor am I certain that our life is all that exciting lol. But I shall give it a shot and see how it goes.
Anyway, here's to something new!
